About the Author
Glenn T. Rogers, MD, currently directs a clinic for the underserved
located in rural northern California. He attended UC Berkeley, majored in
mathematics. He was accepted to the PhD program there, but decided to start
a business importing embroidered clothes from Mexico. He perfected his
Spanish by spending 3-4 months of the year in Mexico, tending to his import
business. After doing some soul searching he decided he wanted to something
more important, and applied to medical school. Dr. Rogers was accepted and
attended the University of Cincinnati, and did a residency in Internal
Medicine at L.A. County+USC. Many of the many patients were Spanish-speaking
only, and again he was able to work on his medical Spanish. The first
edition of his best selling dictionary was authored and published during his
residency. DR. Rogers later worked in the ER for 3 years at LAC+USC, then
private practice in Bakersfield for 2 years.

I have been teaching Medical Spanish and Cultural Competency CME courses for
over 20 years and cannot praise Glenn T Rogers, MD's English
-Spanish/Spanish-English Medical Dictionary enough.
It is an excellent resource and the best Medical Spanish dictionary I have found
throughout my entire teaching career, which is why I highly recommend it to
anyone in the Health Care profession as well as to all Medical Spanish
Instructors.
This third edition is extremely comprehensive and covers nearly every term my
students have looked up in class, as well as those that I've always wanted to
know. It is also most impressive in that Dr. Rogers includes many diverse and
varied translations based on region and country, which affords one the
opportunity to know which word or phrase to use depending on where ones' patient
is from.
This dictionary entailed a great deal of research and is extremely accurate, not
to mention thoroughly outstanding!
*An extra added bonus is the Code Status Discussion translation on the last page
of the book, which many of my class participants point out is exceedingly
beneficial.
Once again, I highly recommend it.

Very well written and useful. The author is a bilingual medical doctor. As a
practicing physician, he is well aware of commonly used medical terms and
phrases. This book is very practical and easy to use. I recommend it highly.

I am a General Surgeon and lead a team of volunteers every year to work in
Guatemala. I have bought copies of this book for all members of our team. It has
concise, appropiate and complete entries for the clinical situations we
encounter on a regular basis. No other dictionary that we have tried over the
years comes close to the utility of this one. Other larger and more expensive
dictionaries such as Mosby's (approximately $275 on Amazon) are not as
comprehensive when it comes to the phrases and vocabulary necessary to
communicate in a clinical setting. This little book is a gem and I recommend it
highly.

Terrible...thank goodness I bought a different one (Diccionario Mosby)
otherwise, I would have been in trouble as far as the classes were concerned.
Definitely returned it...(and thankfully so, my friend was able to return hers
as well due to having the same result as I unfortunately did).

I highly recommend the English-Spanish Medical Dictionary by Glenn Rogers to any
medical practitioner struggling to communicate with their ever increasing
Spanish speaking clients. This dictionary has every conceivable medical word
that you might use during an office visit. I also like the history and physical
phrases in the back. I have used some of these when I have had trouble asking
sensitive questions. \
