I got this when my daughter was 2.5yrs and had a good start on spanish already.
She liked it, but I hoped it would teach her more (and me too). It's really only
good for car rides, not at home. It won't keep her attention at home.

The kids like to listen to it, but not enough to want to commit to memory. I
guess it's just not catchy enough! Ie. Sesame street had a skit on one episode
where they sing "you say, 'me llamo'...". It was catchy, so it made it easy to
remember. I think I'm going to keep looking for something like that. This cd
covers ALOT in 30 min- ie. food nouns, introducing one's self, how to say "i'm
thirsty, i'm hungry" verb conjugation of comer (to eat)and hablar (to talk or
speak), pronouns, the weather... I think it focuses on too many topics instead
of taking 1 concept at a time and making that concept easy to learn.
Remember-this is for 2 years old AS WELL as for 6 years-that's a pretty wide
range. it may work for a 6 year old but for english speaking 2 year olds
-they're still learning those topics in english.

...but this cd drives me crazy. I just can't stomach the schoolmarmy tone. The
songs are the best part. When my little girl gets her own cd player, I'll bring
this one back out and she can listen to it in her room.

This cd was just ok, my kid likes it and like any other cd she has, she sings
along.I really can't say much else, nothing to rave about,it was just ok.

I had bought the Beth Manners's French CDs for my daughter's kids, however my
sons children are learning Spanish . So I gave this CD a try and what success.
They always ask for it - very age appropriate and just a delight. Lots of
practical phrases. Give it a try.

I read about this CD from Family Fun Magazine - they recommended it. My kids
adore this clever CD. Bobby speaks only English and Marie speaks only Spanish .
The format really holds their interest - they sing the songs and have learned
quite a bit. They particularly love the Picnic and The Three Bears. Undoubtedly
our favorite car CD. We also enjoy the French CD for variety.

I speak five languages and I have three kids. This is a well developed excellent
product for children. The format is very inviting. An American boy Bobby only
speaks English and his Spanish friend Maria only speaks Spanish. They both speak
a lot and sing however, it is seamless. My kids have learned so much, but the
important thing is that they ask for it all the time - making for lots of
repetition. BTW, the music is an important plus - the songs review a lot of
vocab and are very catchy.
The pronunciation is authentic and clear. Spanish is spoken with many different
pronunciations, all over the world. This pronunciation is typically Latin
American. It is important for learners to hear all pronunciations, in order to
develop a good ear. We have all of Beth Manners' CDs and they are all
phenomenal.

I bought this CD because of the good reviews here at Amazon. I wish I could
return it. What a waste of my money!
Most of the CD is in English. Most of the song titles on the CD are in English
and most of the songs themselves are in English. The first two tracks are
completely in English.
The way a few Spanish words are taught is by an English speaker saying them and
then someone saying them in Spanish. There's not enough of the Spanish words
being used in context to make this worth anyone's time.
If you want your child hearing Spanish, this is not the CD for you.

I bought this for my children 6 & 7, who were interested in learning more
spanish. My 6 year old seemed to enjoy it more than my 7 year old. The CD moved
along too quickly at times & some words were hard to understand. So, we were not
sure we were actually speaking the words correctly. Not very helpful if you're a
beginner.

This is my kids' favorite CD. They have quite a collection, however they always
ask for this one. The format is very effective. Bobby and speaks only English
while Maria only French. My kids love the songs and they are always using
Spanish phrases. Everything is well pronounced. My kids also love the Magic
Spanish CD - also by Beth Manners.

I have tried but my children aren't interested in the CD yet. I like it but I
can't give it better than 3 stars if I can't get my little ones into yet.

Highly recommended for beginners. We listen to this in the car and every time we
are about to get in, my DD says, "want to listen to Spanish music!" She is
almost three. The cd is well done, the voices, music and stories are great. My
DD has learned many of the phrases, counts to 20, and knows her colors. We just
reinforce what she has heard with objects at home. Definitely get this one!

This is a great CD. As a native Spanish girl I will highly recommended. There is
not different pronuntiations I must say (I know some people are saying this) It
is hard when is not your language, you pretty much can get misslead. Very good
CD. For the lady Grannni: I am sorry but you are mistaken and missguiding
others. I've noticed you mentioned the LL and Y and seem to not know about it.
Let me explain, this two letters are in use in ANY Spanish speaking country. The
pronuntiation of either 'Does not change at all in any Spanish speaking country'
there is new words and accents but the alphabet is exactly the same, so the
pronuntiation does not change. Castellano or Spanish as some called it is my
native language. South America posesses one of the most authentic and pure
Castellano Language there is = Proper Spanish, please continue practise and you
will learn this with time. Beth Manners Cd has helped me to become a succesful
tuthor and the kids learn so much faster because of it's fun music. My Children
love the Beth Manners CD IT EVEN COMES EVEN WITH EXERCISES TO PRACTISE, I speak
English and Castellano both fluently so I will be happy to answer any more
questions you may have. Best Regards, Erica Bazalar Oaks.

My 3 yr old doesn't like it, though I've played it for her several times to get
her "used" to it. She tells me to turn it off. Personally, I've learned a few
small phrases like "comemos naranjas" but the problem is, there is no guide to
tell you what's being said or what it means. There is a small insert that
translates the songs - but the songs only comprise about half of the CD. There's
a long segment on the Three Bears that is somewhat annoying - we did learn one
phrase that sticks with us - Todo Terminado (all finished), which is pretty much
how we feel about this CD.

We have no choice but to listen to this CD each time we get in the car. Our
son's first words are "Spanish CD"! He loves it and has learned so many words
and phrases like "hace frio". I love how well it teaches him and my dh and I
love it as well. We have honed our Spanish skills as well. We just ordered the
Magic Spanish from Beth Manners and can't wait to learn more!

Our 3.5 yr. old grand-daughter wanted us to play this every time she got into
the car. The presentation is very clear and engaging-- a mix of story,
vocabulary, and song. A few more songs would have been nice. The Spanish accent
is not the one heard most often in the USA; it is more South American (and the
Spanish speaking child on the CD is from South America, we are told). The "ll"
or "y" sound is more like a "j" or "ch" sound.
That is my only reservation about this CD, but it doesn't keep me from
recommending it.

In order to have something to do together, my daughter & I have begun learning
Spanish. The idea is great, but finding programs that work for both of us has
been more than challenging. There are great CDs out there for adults, but they
move to quickly for her & just aren't very much fun. Whats worse, the other kid
CD I've tried requires the book in order to get anything out of it. That just
doesn't work for us since we do most of our learning in the car.
Having said all that, the Beth Manner's CD is the best thing I have ever come
across. It teaches you, just like the adult CDs do, but more slowly so that you
can really grasp it & with songs that keep it exciting for kids. It is
disapointing, as someone else mentioned, that the pronunciation is not like that
in Spain or Mexico (or like most Spanish speaking people's in our area), but
that is a tolerable fault.
I also wish the CDs were longer. It was over rather quickly, but seeings how no
other kids CD I've come across even compares to the quality of this one its well
worth it.

My kids adore this CD they listen over and over . We also have Magic Spanish for
Kids and just bought the new Beth Manners CD - Playtime Spanish.
The pronunciation is exactly what they are learning in school - their teacher is
Mexican.

For someone who has purchased various children's language CDs, I found this to
be a well-done, good quality CD. The music and voices are pleasant, and most of
all, my 3-year old really is engaged and actually learning Spanish - and that's
the whole idea! She constantly refers to things she heard in the CD throughout
the day, and is more eager to learn more. I will be definitely be buying more of
Beth Manners.

We love this cd and will probably purchase the other Manners Spanish disc, but I
do struggle with the fact that this is not the Spanish that the other kids
around here speak. The pronunciation is not that of Mexico or Spain, but instead
is more Peruvian or Argentinian. It would be great to have an alternate of this
same program with the other pronunciation. Other than that aspect, it's by far
the best kids Spanish cd we've owned.

This is a really cute CD. My 4 1/2 year old really enjoys the stories and he is
picking up a lot of the vocabulary pretty fast. We listen to it in the car.
There is a lot of music which is appealing to young children. I even find myself
singing "hola, Maria, hola Maria, me llamo bobby..."

My children and students all benefit from the CD. It's clear and obviously
professionally done. When we're doing our Spanish lessons (we do a lot of role
playing, coloring, some word matching, and a little translation) they often
break out in songs or sections from the Beth Manners' CD's... I don't know if it
would be the best for their introduction to Spanish, but since they have a
foundation, this is a wonderful way to add to their listening comprehension as
well as some speaking. We use it here and there in the car, but mostly they like
to be able to stop it and ask questions about how to say things differently - so
it's best used during a dedicated Spanish time for our household.

I bought this for my 2 year old to listen to and have found it very educational
and FUN for myself as well. Having taken Spanish in high school, I had some
background, but had forgotten most of it. This was a great refresher...much more
entertaining than learning it out of books like I did back then. My two year old
likes it as well - we've only had it for a couple weeks, but she mimics words
back. I highly recommend! I just ordered Beth Manners' Magic Spanish CD since I
liked this one so well.

My kids (2 & 5) really enjoy listening to both this and the Magic Spanish CD in
the car - it's a great way for them to learn. It's funny & interesting so
they'll listen to it over and over. The 2 year old even asked for "leche de
chocolate" the other day!

words by telling the story of the Three Bears! My kids love it (age 4 and 6)!!

I think that this tape is a great way to learn Spanish. Beth Manners put a lot
of effort into this tape. The tape is not at all boring, and everybody on it is
very enthusiastic. I highly recommend that you buy this CD, because it is a
great way to learn Spanish.

We have been teaching spanish to our four year old for years and are always on
the lookout for great music and teaching aids, and in this we have both. Our son
loves the story and songs and has played it almost nonstop since we got it a few
days ago. I like how seamlessly the learning is meshed in the story line and
when specific words are mentioned and translated, it is part of the dialogue of
the colorful characters, which takes away the stale monotony that some
learn-to-speak-spanish tapes have. The only disappointment I have is that there
is no book to go with it.
