This handy suitcase full of language materials is a wonderful way to get
started, when you don't know how to start. It has flashcards, a parent guide,
everything you'd want for a good solid introduction. I have used it as
supplemental material in my own Spanish classes. It's a little advanced for most
toddlers, so try Flip Flop Spanish for that age group, but for ages 5 & up,
you'll be pleased, if you put a little planning into your lesson beforehand.
It is quite interactive, which is the best way for kids to learn. Being a
hands-on teacher, I wish there was a little more writing - even watching someone
write a word helps a child to focus on it for that much longer while he listens,
uses it in a sentence, or repeats a song or phrase.

This "pack" is HIGHLY overpriced. It consists of nothing but a story book
written in Spanish and English and a CD that reads the story. I am very
disappointed. The "Spanish for Children" is MUCH better and costs less. I am
trying to get my money back on the Berlitz.

I bought this pack for my six year old son, and we really like it. It's actually
not a book. It comes with a parent guide which will take you step-by-step
through a complete lesson plan on how to teach your child the language (even if
you don't speak it yourself); 50 flash cards of all the numbers, colors, family
nounds, animals and foods plus some blank ones for your own use; a cassette with
the enclosed storybook and a bunch of fun songs for the children to learn, a
"Nicholas's Lost Cat" story in both English and Spanish, and a First 100 Words
dictionary. It's well worth the price, and while it's certainly not a complete
course by any means, it's an age-appropriate introduction to the language for
any child between the ages of 3 and 12 or so. You'll need more than this pack if
you want your child to achieve high-level fluency in the language, but this is
the best solution for taking those first few steps. My only complaint is the
fact that it comes with only one storybook; I would have gladly paid more had it
come with several more storybooks, which are much more interesting and dynamic
than a dictionary and flashcards.
