This was really helpful for a health insurance presentation I did. The only
problem is that it is very "business" lingo oriented, obviously, so while the
terms were all correct, if you're dealing with people who don't know the lingo,
you still have to explain the terms to them in layman's language. This was not a
huge problem as I have to do this for my English-speaking clients, too, so it
wasn't exactly shocking or the book's "fault."

In my work I have to translate presentations and training materials which are
filled with technical business terms such as "hard-core cartel," "overinvoicing,"
and "insider trading" from English to Spanish. I got this book to help out and
it has far exceeded my expectations. Practically every term of art that I needed
to find was there. If you are doing business doing business in a bilingual
market, this book is an essential. I highly recommend it.

Super nice copy as described. Has so many things, just need to learn how to use
it. Will be an excellent reference book for teaching English to non native
speakers.

This is a jargon Spanish-English Dictionary with good coverage of business
terms. However, the reality is that Spanish-speaking countries often use
different terms for the same concept. To be useful, such a dictionary, in
addition to just translating a term to the other language, should offer a brief
definition, enough for a person to know if the term means what he wants to say.
In the case that different terms exist for the same concept, it would be very
helpful if the dictionary specified the country or countries that use each
specific term. From the English side, which I am not familiar with, it could be
that UK, Australia and the US have different terms too.. A dictionary that did
not deal with such realities should better be called a Mexican Spanish-US
English Dictionary..

Soy economista, por mi profesion suelo leer bastante libros y diarios,
especificamente de economia y en ingles, tambien poseo varios diccionarios
financieros pero los mismos son muy incompletos.
Lo considero el mejor, por que casi no hay un termino economico que no lo
contenga. Con anterioridad a la compra, he tenido que recurrir a otros y muchas
veces los terminos buscados no estaban.
Sin lugar dudas, mas alla de lo economico de su precio, por su contenido es el
mejor.

For my work as business translator I have bought every bilingual English-Spanish
business dictionary published for almost 25 years now. Previous purchases
included Wiley's English-Spanish, Spanish-English Business Dictionary by the
same author, and The Oxford Spanish Business Dictionary. Even though the Oxford
dictionary claims to have over 50,000 entries, and the Wiley dictionary 40,000,
the Wiley dictionary was in reality much larger.
These were the dictionaries I used the most. The rest I had practically never
looked at. For several years these two dictionaries helped me get my job done,
but as each year went by more and more terms I needed were not there. Terms such
as those in electronic commerce and business theory, to name a couple.
Happily, a few months ago Webster's New World English-Spanish/Spanish-English
Business Dictionary was published, and now I have access to over 80,000 entries
and over 100,000 translations! Its 2006 publication date insures that it is
completely current, and amazon lets you see sample content right on this page.
If you go to the Wiley website you can see the entire letter a in the English to
Spanish section. I suggest going there and seeing for yourself how much you can
find there, and then coming back here to buy it, as it is about $13 cheaper
here.
It is clear that this will be the only English-Spanish business dictionary I
will need for years to come! Check out the sample content and see for yourself
if you agree!
