Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Comprehensive and Concise
I cannot recommend this one enough. Discovered it while working with an xray tech in Escondido, Ca. and I have used it so much I completely wore it out and had to order a new one. Covers almost everything you need to say to a patient in a small laminated pamphlet easily carried in your pocket. Includes pronunciation of each phrase so you could literally read the phrases to the patient right out of the book. Of course, the hard part is learning how to understand what the patient is saying too, but you can get alot from their body language as well. I used Global Access Spanish on cassette by Penton to learn my formal spanish. It is made for tourists so doesnt have many medical terms, but with these two together you can easily become fluent in Spanish IN YOUR CAR. I wrote a more extensive review of Global Access Spanish under the "Spanish for Healthcare Professionals" by McGraw Hill (30 hrs. CME) and compared the two.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Both the Medical and Nursing books are worth the price
I recently re-entered the medical field after several years in another career. I like Spanish a lot and in just a week of working have already come across several Spanish-speaking only patients. I keep both guides with me in my hip pack and it's really helped get me back into the swing of things. It won't teach you perfectly but it will help you to get your point across.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Helpful
I have found this booklet helpful in my practice. The phrases are well arranged by category. Big bonus - the words/phrases are spelled (with bold accents) e-x-a-c-t-ly how they are pronounced! Would have given all 'stars' if l & d included some recovery/postpartum teaching.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great little reference
This book may be small, but it is FULL of information. Plus, it is the perfect size to carry in your pocket when you need to have it on hand. I recommend this book highly for anyone in the medical profession who needs some Spanish, but doesn't have time for classes.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Total waste of money!
This is a cheaply constructed pamphlet - it is NOT a paperback. I paid $4.95 for this, instead I should have written some common phrases and questions on an index card. I intend to return this to Amazon, even paying postage, to make this point.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a must for medical professionals
Clear and concise for travel or office use. Easy to use and the perfect size.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Speedy spanish for Medical Professionals
It helps when you don't speak the language you have a tool that will help you to get your point across and give you the reponses you expect.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Waste of money...
I should have listen to the previous reviews as this pocket manual being rather worthless. Because indeed it is worthless, while it is divided into specialty sections, there's translations of common questions and uncommon questions, but not enough info to obtain even a simple history. I would suggest people looking for a span-eng dict. invest in something more thorough even if it is a little bulkier in the pocket.
Most of what was included in this pocket guide could have easily been obtained from just asking spanish speaking personel in the workplace.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Helpful... to a point
I just got back from a medical mission trip to Mexico and this book was great for initial questions. But this isn't good for the details of problems, especially neurological problems and gastrointestinal. Frequently I ran out of questions and had to use a translator to finish my H&P which whas frustrating for me and the patient. Fortunately, by the end of the week my Spanish was much better and I had memorized the translator's phrases so that I didn't use this book as much. It does fit nicely in scrub or white coat pockets.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Dimensions (in inches): 0.09 x 5.03 x 3.40
It states quite clearly in the book details "Dimensions (in inches): 0.09 x 5.03 x 3.40".
This is a pocked-sized book and can be carried in most any pocket. Most people aren't likely to carry a full sized book with them in their daily activities.
With that in mind, this is a very useful book.
