Product Description
Complete with a CD, this is a hands-on book! The Flip Flop Language Series
makes it fun and easy for all parents (Spanish-speaking or not) to teach
their children Spanish.
Why Flip Flop? Every other page is upside-down for a reason! We designed
each book to fold back on itself so your student can see and focus on only
one page at a time. As you both work through the lessons, your student sees
a glimpse of what's to come, so when he FLIPs the book upside-down, your
child will proudly review all that he has accomplished, simply by turning
the pages, flipping and learning as you work back toward the front of the
workbook. Reviewing previous vocabulary and activities is imperative to
language acquisition.
With more than 14 weeks of activities, puzzles, lesson pages, extra
ideas, and a glossary, this workbook only contains the pages that really
WORK with children to help them want to learn Spanish and practice it. The
flashcards in the back are easy to cut out, and fun to color and use. All
families also receive free ideas and online tutoring help through the book's
website!
About the Author
Sra. Gose is the mother of five children, and an avid private Spanish
classes teacher. Part of her study took place in Madrid, where she lived
with a wonderful widow who knew not a speck of English. After "retiring"
from public school teaching to have the first of their children, she missed
her students as well as the fun of teaching. Thus, the full-time mother and
homemaker began Sra. Gose's Spanish Classes. Since then, she has developed
lessons and activities for weekly classes for students ages three years to
eighteen. Her books are compilations of her proven Spanish curriculum.

I was referred to the Flip Flop Spanish by a friend who picked it up for her
children. I thought it was a fantastic learning tool for my kids and they truly
enjoy the books. I really found the CD helpful for the pronunciations and I
enjoy using the flash cards with my kids. It has been a learning process for us
all. They are engaging, which is important for a child learning, and I have them
all now. I am even purchasing more to give as gifts to other friends and family
for their children. We have used other products, but have found that Flip Flop
Spanish really works for us. Thank you Senora Gose for your creative and
innovative learning techniques and I hope to be able to see more of them. I am
definitely going to spread the word!

This product is expensive! Is it worth it?
I have been teaching Spanish and French in local nursery schools & daycares in
NJ for eight years. It is great to encourage parents to teach their little ones.
Some excellent product series have appeared in the last four years: the Ana
Lomba books & tapes, the Professor Toto DVD's, the Language Tree French/Spanish
for Kids DVD's, Whistlefritz' "Los Animales" and SpanishPlaytime's "Muevete"
(last 2 Sp. only).
This workbook/CD is inappropriate for ages 3-5, who need gross-motor activity,
music, color, big tactile props. You can do far better for same or better price
with items mentioned above, or even old tried-and-true song-&-picture series
like Barbara MacArthur's (Sing/Dance/Eat Quiche/Tacos) or Judy Mahoney's (Teach
Me French/ Spanish).

I was very excited when I received Flip Flop Spanish.
I loved the "flip flop" approach and in all my years of teaching had never seen
a book done in this format. By alternating the layout of the pages, it makes it
much easier to focus on one lesson at a time. This works well for a child (and
mother) that get easily distracted. The lessons were short enough to engage my 3
year old and simple enough for her to retain what was learned. The cd was a
great addition and enhanced the learning. I would reccomend this tool to anyone,
young or old, trying to learn a second language!

The quality of this book and cd are sub par. There are much much better products
out there that are made by professional publishing companies and at a lower
price. Some of these have also been shipped without the CD.
Most of the reviews here, I believe, are friends of the author. You will notice
similarities between their locations and their reviews of other products by the
author.
Do yourself a favor and "steer" clear of this one.

Here's a Spanish introduction program for your younger children that is both fun
and interactive, and perfect for the parent who has no background in Spanish or
foreign language instruction. This spiral bound workbook is designed with every
other page inverted, allowing the child to fold the page over to concentrate on
one page at a time. Once the first 7 lessons are completed, the book is then
flipped over to continue on with the second half. New items are introduced and
reviewed on the flip journey. The content covers basic Spanish words and
phrases, with the goal for the child to have a working knowledge of Spanish in
about 3 months. Some of the lessons require some simple writing, so unless your
child is advanced in this skill, you'll need to write out their answers. The
workbook comes with a companion CD, a huge bonus that will help with listening
and speaking practice.
There are also supplemental flash cards and a really cool Spanish activity
calendar. The calendar offers 12 months of learning a Spanish word a day and
includes a 240+ word glossary. Kids can color the calendar, and complete various
activities. The calendar is appropriate for all ages and can be used as a
supplement or can stand alone as an introductory Spanish program.
It's interesting to note the author is a homeschooling mom who is also a
bilingual Spanish teacher. If you're looking for an engaging, easy introduction
to Spanish, check out Flip-Flop Spanish, The author has definitely gone out of
her way to make learning a second language cheery and non-threatening, I can't
imagine a child not finding this approach enjoyable, which is the way learning
should be.

I purchased this workbook/cd to teach my 4-year-old daughter Spanish and was
surprised by the poor quality of the book, the lessons and the cd. The book is
cheaply made (no color, low-res graphics, thin paper, only 59 pages) and the
lessons were not engaging to my child. The accompanying cd only pronounced the
vocabulary words (no games, music, themes, etc.) The flash cards at the back
should have been perforated and on thicker paper. Also, there are only twelve
flash cards which seems like a waste of time. I purchased other beginning
Spanish books/cds for children (Speak in a Week, Spanish for Children, I Can
Read & Speak in Spanish) and was very pleased with these publications. I paid
more for this workbook ($29) because of the rave reviews. I'm not sure why
everyone else seems so happy with Flip Flop Spanish but I wanted to share my
thoughts. I am returning this to Amazon.

I began using this book with my first child when he was 7 and am currently using
it with my 3 year old. Senora Gose provides vocabulary that is interesting and
practical for a child to learn, for example, colors, animals, clothing, weather.
There are 14 lessons in all, each designed to take approximately one week in
time, allowing time for fun and practice to find their way into each lesson. As
a parent, I really appreciate the pronunciation guide for each word introduced
-- a great way to remind me of the proper pronunciation before I teach it to my
child. If there's any doubt, the included CD offers help as well.

Flip Flop Spanish is a fun activity book that is user friendly for the teacher
and the student. The author explains how to teach Spanish right down to the
correct pronunciation of words and keeps my four year old wanting more! I got
more for my money than I expected a cd, flash cards, and advice from the author!
Lastly, this book suggests easy ways to incorporate Spanish outside of the class
where it really matters! I do not think there is another Spanish workbook like
this; I will definitely be looking for the next levels. Thanks!!!

I bought one for me and one for my grandkids (age 6 and 11). Takes more time
than I have, but I'm planning on using it w/grandkids on the plane to Mexico and
we should have some fun together.

I have 6 children from the ages of 3-13. All of us, including myself enjoy
listening to the cd. She talks to the kids, not down to the kids. It is not dry,
just reading the words, but more converstational sounding. I highly recommend
the book and cd set. It is worth every penny.

My 3 year old and I have only done one lesson, and he already calls it "his
workbook". The lessons are easy, relative, and a great way to remember to
practice (even if its just a little bit) everyday! Great for parents and
teachers for preschool children.

My son is 5 years old and found this to be a little slow but he is learning from
it. We are continuing to work on it daily and he is improving.

This book has made learning fun for both my son and myself. We enjoy the CD and
the flashcards. The FlipFlop concept is great. The lesson plans are short enough
to keep my 3 year old engaged. Our daycare is planning on using this as a
learning tool in the 3-5 year old rooms -- I recommend this book.
GREAT Job on creating a tool for non-spanish speaking moms to use in teaching
spanish to our kids.

There are 14 lessons with 3-4 days of practice work for each. The CD is a
valuable resource for correct pronunciation and the short lessons are doable for
the young child and busy mom! Definitely a fun, low-stress introduction to
Spanish!

I am a grandmother of seven and have never learned a second language...never saw
the need, I guess. However, it has become necessary to change that because my
grandchildren are being taught (beginning at age 3!) Spanish. One of my
grandsons will describe something to me in Spanish, and I have no idea what he's
talking about.
When I received this book I got excited because it's very easy to follow,
especially with the CD. The most helpful to me are the pictures because I'm a
visual learner! When I can make an association then I don't forget it.
I really hope there will be more books because I would like to learn as my
grandchildren learn; it just makes it more fun when I can communicate with them
on another level. You can be assured I'll buy any future books.

I heard about this book from a relative. I decided my four year granddaughter
and I should give it a whirl since she is such a Dora the Explorer Fan. I was a
little leery since I know no other languages nor am I a teacher. We have had a
great time time learning Spanish together!! The CD is a huge help. The lesson
segments are short enough to leave us wanting more and the flip flop concept
keeps us from skipping around. I certainly recommend this book.

AWESOME!!! Before I got this book, I had no idea where to start teaching my
child Spanish! This makes learning another language fun!I live in Texas, and it
has become almost a necessity to be bilingual. The unique flip-flop format
really encourages my child to stay interested by giving tantalizing glimpses of
the lessons ahead. Buy this book!
